![]() Officially titled Slaves to Armok: God of Blood Chapter II: Dwarf Fortress, it's known for its depth as a procedurally-generated city-building game with a dizzying learning curve. Good Luck.Įdit: Just noticed the mac thing, not sure how mac handles QuickFort. The game Dwarf Fortress is notorious for a handful of reasons. Might be some mistakes, not going to proof read this. QuickFort can do a lot more, like designate across multiple z-levels and even designate building constructions and beds. It might take a little trial and error before you get used to the placement of the cursor prior to starting the script before you get it where you want it. QuickFort defaults to the North West (top left) corner. I think the #dig at the top of the csv file is supposed to do that but sometimes it doesn't. Before you Alt+F to start the script open the mining designation menu. Alt+F will open the csv file you created with Chromafort and Alt+D will start the script. For right now you'll only need Alt+F and Alt+D. If DF is your focused window it will display a tooltip box with the hotkeys needed to run it. QuickFort is basicly a passive script engine that runs in the background with an overlay for dwarf fortress. Save it as whatever, it will include the csv file extension. ![]() Click convert colors and it will bring up a save box. you can set empty space to `(the tilda key next to 1) but it's not necessary. Mining would be d, Channel would be h and so on. Click the two check boxes on the top for including #dig at the top of your csv file and including a border.Ĭlick on each color and type the letter corresponding to a designation in dwarf fortress. When you get the bmp opened with Chromafort you'll see your design on the left and the colors you used on the right. Mine was set to open with 7zip and I had a brain fart as to why wasn't working. Open Chromafort, if it's giving you issues make sure you have the program it opens with the Java Platform. QuickFort lets you pick which corner it starts drawing in, your designs will be more precise if you draw them aligned to one corner. So mining would be black, stairs would be red, etc. Use the pencil tool to fill in squares where each color is a separate designation. Zoom into your image to the maximum (or close to it) amount and turn on the grid. If not, when you open it with Chromafort it try and include colors that you didn't want.Ĭreating the bmp images is easy. The only requirement here is that its a multiple of 2 (2x2, 2x4, 200x140), just needs to be an even number. First thing you want to do is create a new image and make the pixel width and height about the size of the design you want to create. bmp files created with a paint program like mspaint, or anything that will let you create images with single pixels. It comes with LazyNewbPack and is pretty versatile.Ĭhromafort takes. There are a couple programs and websites that will let you create the spreadsheets for QuickFort but I think Chromafort is the best method. The utility you want to learn first is Chromafort. First thing you need to know is that QuickFort doesn't create the designation scripts it uses, it only executes them. ![]() I kind of suck at tutorials but I'll try and help. Because of this you end up with a lot of, "I'm surprised you're having an issue" responses when trying to find help. It's one of those programs that is tricky to learn but actually very easy once you have that aha moment.
